Learn About Keys Restoration Fund In-Lieu Fee Program

The Keys Restoration Fund In-Lieu Fee Program (KRF ILF Program) provides the necessary mitigation credits to compensate for for unavoidable impacts to waters of the United States that result from activities authorized under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act.  This is accomplished through the sale of federal mitigation credits to permittees. Our latest project is located on Key Largo where we will be restoring and enhancing 8.4 acres of tidal wetlands and 4.2 acres of seagrass. To date, the KRF ILF Program has implemented four compensatory mitigation projects at Bahia Honda, Crane Point Hammock, and most recently Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park. If you are a landowner or manager seeking tidal wetland, freshwater wetland, or seagrass restoration on your property, the KRF ILF Program may be an important source of funding to meet your land management goals and legal responsibilities. Permittees seeking to purchase federal mitigation credits may contact us though our Contact page.
